David Wright becomes the first NY Mets player immortalized in wax!

David Wright's figure will be part of a new "Ultimate Subway Series" exhibit featuring New York's two Major League baseball teams, the New York Mets and the New York Yankees. A wax figure of the Yankees' Derek Jeter will join Wright's figure in the exhibit in what's sure to be a baseball fan's dream. The interactive exhibit includes a replica of the Mets' and Yankees' dugouts, pitching and cheering games, voice recordings of both players, which can be heard on the dugout phones and much more.

Wright worked closely with Madame Tussauds' studio artists throughout the figure creation process. He even donated an authentic Mets uniform and one of his signature bats to the attraction to help ensure that his figure would be as accurate as possible. April 11 was the first time that Wright saw the final product. He posed with his figure and waved to the many fans who gathered around the Times Square wax attraction to catch a glimpse of one of professional baseball's most popular players.

In addition to his busy job as the Mets' third baseman, Wright spends much of his time on the David Wright Foundation, which he founded in 2005 to raise awareness and monies for different charities. Not surprisingly, Wright's combination of talent and bigheartedness has earned him more than a few fans, including President George W. Bush, who invited Wright and several other baseball players to dinner at the White House earlier this year.
